About San Clemente

San Clemente S.A. is a family business that started in 1984 with the purpose of contributing to a healthy lifestyle by providing wholesome, fresh and high quality food products. San Clemente’s holding is composed of Agrícola San Clemente, Exportadora San Clemente, San Clemente Foods, Central Frutícola San Clemente and Conservera San Clemente; business units that continue to grow and develop in order to adapt to an increasingly complex and demanding market. The packing and cold storage plants are the business units in which San Clemente processes and packs their products; San Clemente prides itself in being able to satisfy the individual packaging needs of each of their clients. Currently, San Clemente has plants in Limarí, Talca, Angol and Lontué in Chile and New Jersey, USA. The latter is certified to process their organic apples. Care and respect for the environment is part of San Clemente’s corporate values and policies. For this reason, part of what San Clemente does is maintain a constant awareness of their natural surroundings and environment, seeking to reduce environmental impacts in their production processes, and allowing San Clemente to be increasingly more sustainable and conscientious about the use of their resources.

San Clemente's Sustainability Initiatives

Solar Energy

San Clemente is currently immersed in an ambitious plan to renew energy sources at their Lontué plant, where they have taken a significant step towards sustainability by adopting exclusively renewable energies. This transition not only reinforces San Clemente’s commitment to the environment, but also strengthens their ability to operate more efficiently and responsibly.

Water Wise

San Clemente has a water recirculation project. The objective of the meltwater recirculation project involves reusing water instead of discarding it after its first use. It consists of collecting, treating and reintroducing the used water back into the cooling system, rather than losing it to the drainage system

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

San Clemente educate employees on the importance of responsible waste management and the conservation of natural resources. San Clemente implements a Circular Economy model for paper, cardboard and plastic, ensuring their correct use and destination. The raw material collected is sent to authorized companies for the manufacture of corrugated paper packaging, molded pulp trays and tissue paper. San Clemente recycles electronic waste to promote the recovery and reuse of valuable and scarce materials such as precious metals (copper, aluminum) and plastics from electronic devices. This waste is sent to a non-profit foundation that refurbishes computers for schools, in addition to managing e-waste for sustainable recycling. This practice reduces the need to extract new resources, thus promoting economic and environmental sustainability. Hazardous waste is recycled to mitigate the environmental and health risks of improper disposal. By recycling these wastes, San Clemente aims to reduce soil, water, and air pollution, protect wildlife, and preserve human health.

Promoting Biodiversity

Each year, San Clemente undertakes reforestation efforts using native trees, that require minimal water consumption, aiming to restore degraded areas and enhance biodiversity. This initiative not only focuses on soil conservation and improving water quality but also aims to create habitats for wildlife. San Clemente actively encourages employees to participate in tree planting, fostering environmental awareness and strengthening the community. By increasing their tree count, San Clemente directly impacts the environment and generates a positive, lasting impact.

All about the

CARBON HEROES QR CODE

Through this digital recognition platform, we celebrate the Carbon Heroes taking part in the Confronting Climate Change (CCC) Initiative for their considerable effort in calculating and understanding their carbon emissions.

Each Carbon Hero has their own digital QR code that can be displayed on their website and other marketing material, linking directly to their individual profile on the Carbon Heroes website.

The QR code provides a simple and innovative way for customers to learn about each Carbon Hero’s carbon offsetting and other sustainability initiatives, as well as engage with them on social media and other marketing channels.

With the Carbon Heroes QR code we aim to support a global transition towards sustainable development by recognising and celebrating the positive environmental impact of each Carbon Hero. By having a transparent display of their commitment to reducing emissions, Carbon Heroes demonstrate their dedication to a sustainable future, while building trust in their brand.
