San Clemente S.A., a family business founded in 1984, provides fresh, high-quality food products that promote a healthy lifestyle. Its business units continue to grow to meet market demands, with packing and cold storage plants tailored to client needs. Facilities are located in Limarí, Talca, Angol, Lontué (Chile), and New Jersey (USA), where organic apples are processed. San Clemente is committed to reducing environmental impact and using resources responsibly.
San Clemente is currently immersed in an ambitious plan to renew energy sources at their Lontué plant, where they have taken a significant step towards sustainability by adopting exclusively renewable energies. This transition not only reinforces San Clemente’s commitment to the environment, but also strengthens their ability to operate more efficiently and responsibly.
San Clemente has a water recirculation project. The objective of the meltwater recirculation project involves reusing water instead of discarding it after its first use. It consists of collecting, treating and reintroducing the used water back into the cooling system, rather than losing it to the drainage system
Each year, San Clemente carries out reforestation with native, low-water trees to restore degraded areas and boost biodiversity. The initiative supports soil conservation, water quality, and wildlife habitats. Employees are encouraged to take part, fostering environmental awareness and community engagement. Increasing tree cover helps create a lasting, positive environmental impact.
San Clemente promotes responsible waste management by educating employees and applying a circular economy model for paper, cardboard, and plastic. Materials are sent to authorised recyclers to produce packaging and tissue products. Electronic waste is recycled through a non-profit that refurbishes computers for schools and ensures sustainable e-waste handling. Hazardous waste is also safely recycled to reduce environmental and health risks.
